Expedite to the major paddy fields and backwaters of Kerala. The expedition starts at 7 AM, from the backwater resort located anywhere in Kuttanadu and surrounding region - Alleppey or Kumarakom. Sail to Vembanadu lake through "Vatta Kayal" (Round Lake) where the famous snake boat race conducted. Every year 2nd week of August 17 Snake boats with a capacity of 150 sailors competes here.

Now we will sail to QST and R Block backwaters. Here agriculture is happening 3 metre below the sea level. It is a small copy of Holland. This 1400 acres of agricultural land is protected by the surrounding dikes from the floods. . These fields are the major paddy fields of Kuttanadu region with coconut palms on the sides of the paddy fields. Kuttanad is known as the rice bowl of Kerala and R Block holds the major share of it. Farmours of Kuttanadu is faming Biosaline method, so it is declared as a Glabally important Agricultural Heritage system (GIAHS). All the major rivers of Kerala, Pamba, Meenachil, Achankovai and Manimala are joining here so the land is very fertile.

An extract from the inflorescence of the coconut trees called Toddy (contains alcohol) is sweet in taste and good for digestion. The best toddy is available here directly from the Coconut tree.

After lunch our expedition starts and sail to Pathiramanal Island. Another 30 minutes cruise we will reach the island. This island inhabits hundreds of migrating birds from different parts of the world. It does not have any road access. A stopping here for some time to see the migratory beauties of monarch flycatcher, whiskered tern, common teal, night heron, intermediate egret, cattle egret, Indian pond heron, little egret, stork-billed kingfisher

By 5 PM cruise back to Kainakari the heart land of Kuttanadu. View the paddy fields close by and stop the Church of St. Kuriakose and his birth place. Drop you back at your resort.
